LG Promising 3 Android Handsets by Year End
LG’s biggest announcement of the CommunicAsia conference was the E71 lookalike, but a nugget has slipped out from their press conference that they will, in fact, be making not one, but three Android handsets before the end of the year. Whether or not their fancy-shmancy new S-Class user interface would be adapted for the operating system was up in their, as they hadn’t decided on whether their Android phones would be high-class enough.
The potential for a low-end Android phone would be new, since everything running Android at this point could safely be classified as a smartphone, but if the OS could adequately scale down, it would be a testament to the versatility of Google (NSDQ: GOOG)’s mobile OS. LG was apparently hesitant at first about signing on with Android, but at this point it seems inevitable that all of the major manufacturers will have at least a token handset by the end of the year.
